Remembrance #2 — The Hidden Cost of Always Being Strong
Jun 25, 2026"Strength is a gift. But when it becomes your identity, it quietly becomes a prison."
Have you ever wondered why you’re so tired?
Not physically. Soul tired.
The kind of exhaustion that sleep doesn’t fix.
You keep showing up.
You keep caring for everyone else.
You keep meeting expectations.
From the outside, you appear capable, dependable, and resilient.
Yet inside, you’re quietly asking:
“How much longer can I keep carrying all of this?"
If that question feels familiar, you’re not alone.
Somewhere along the way, many of us learned that being strong meant never slowing down.
We learned to push through.
To keep the peace.
To solve the problems.
To carry the weight.
To become the one everyone could count on.
But strength was never meant to mean carrying everything by yourself.
When strength becomes constant performance, it slowly disconnects you from your own needs, your own voice, and your own peace.
The greatest burden isn’t always what you’re carrying.
Sometimes it’s believing you must carry it alone.
Here’s what I’ve come to believe.
Sustainable resilience isn’t found in carrying more.
It grows when you give yourself permission to soften.
To breathe.
To pause.
To receive support.
To return to yourself.
This isn’t weakness.
It’s wisdom.
Because the strongest people aren’t those who never rest.
They’re the ones who know when it’s time to come home to themselves.
Today’s Remembering
Take a slow breath.
Then ask yourself:
What am I carrying that was never mine to carry alone?
Notice what comes up.
You don’t have to solve it today.
Simply recognizing it is the first step toward laying it down.
Remember This
You do not have to earn the right to rest.
You do not have to prove your worth through constant effort.
You do not have to carry everyone else’s expectations.
Strength is not measured by how much you endure.
It is revealed by how deeply you remain connected to yourself.
